Aluminum is widely considered as the most popular non-ferrous metal in the world, so aluminum alloys are widely used in the wire mesh industry. Aluminum alloy is mainly composed of aluminum, and also contains other elements such as copper, magnesium, manganese, or silicon etc. Aluminum alloy wire mesh is a mesh screen material made of aluminum wire or aluminum alloy wire through weaving, perforating, stretching and other processes. It achieves an excellent balance between price, quality and versatility, making aluminum alloy wire mesh netting an ideal choice for wide applications.
Jiushen aluminum alloy wire mesh is woven from selected 5000-series aluminum alloy wire to provide a practical balance of low weight, corrosion resistance, formability and consistent mesh openings. Common material options include 5052, 5056 and 5154 aluminum alloys.
Compared with steel-based mesh of a similar volume, aluminum mesh significantly reduces component and transportation weight. Aluminum does not develop iron rust, but it is not corrosion-proof in every environment. Strong alkaline solutions, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and incompatible chemicals can rapidly attack aluminum. Chemical exposure must therefore be evaluated before material selection.
Different aluminum alloy wire meshes may appear similar, but their magnesium content, strength, formability and corrosion resistance are different. Selecting the correct alloy helps prevent premature corrosion, forming problems and unnecessary material cost.

For most general industrial and HVAC projects, 5052 is a practical starting point. Where higher strength or salt-containing air is a concern, 5056 should be considered. For industrial applications requiring balanced strength and processing performance, 5154 may provide a suitable alternative.
Final selection should also consider wire temper, mesh count, wire diameter, forming requirements, coating, exposure time and maintenance conditions. No single aluminum alloy is suitable for every environment.

The specifications above are commonly produced configurations rather than a limitation of the product range. Custom mesh counts, wire diameters and roll sizes can be evaluated according to the required aperture, open area, strength and downstream processing method.
Mesh count indicates the number of openings per linear inch. For example, an 18 × 16 mesh has 18 openings per inch in one direction and 16 openings per inch in the other direction.
Mesh count alone does not determine filtration or airflow performance. Two products with the same mesh count can have different aperture sizes and open areas if their wire diameters are different.
For a square woven mesh using the same mesh count in both directions, the approximate clear opening can be calculated as:
Clear opening in millimeters = 25.4 ÷ mesh count − wire diameter in millimeters
Before ordering aluminum mesh for filtration, screening or ventilation, purchasers should confirm:
Required clear opening or retained particle size
Minimum acceptable open-area percentage

Natural aluminum alloy wire mesh has a metallic silver appearance and does not require an additional color coating. It is suitable where low weight, conductivity or the natural aluminum appearance is required.
Epoxy powder coating creates a protective and visually uniform layer on the woven mesh. It is commonly considered for indoor filters, equipment components and applications requiring controlled coating adhesion and color.
Polyester coating can be selected for applications where outdoor color stability and weather resistance are important. The final coating system should be specified according to UV exposure, operating temperature, humidity and corrosion requirements.
Buyers should define the required coating color, coating thickness, adhesion, flexibility, salt-spray performance and operating temperature before production. Coating performance depends on the complete coating specification and should not be determined by color alone.

The 5000 series consists primarily of aluminum-magnesium alloys. Magnesium improves strength and contributes to corrosion resistance, making alloys such as 5052, 5056 and 5154 suitable for many woven mesh applications.
5052 is normally a practical general-purpose choice because it balances corrosion resistance, formability and cost. The final selection should still consider environmental exposure, wire strength and downstream fabrication.
5056 and 5052 are commonly considered for salt-containing air and humid environments. However, suitability depends on the duration of exposure, coating, maintenance, contact with other metals and whether the mesh is exposed to continuous saltwater immersion.
